Bangalore, May 19: West Indian cricketer Chris Gayle today allegedly pushed a reporter of a regional TV channel and tried to snatch the mike and camera when the media team tried to videograph him while he was shopping, police said.

Angry at the media crew which followed him to one of the shops in Brigade Road here, the explosive batsman, a member of the IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) reportedly pushed the reporter and verbally abused the team, police said.

Gayle's bodyguards also allegedly attempted to physically assault the crew members. However, when a number of onlookers gathered and started arguing with the cricketer, he along with his bodyguards sped away in his car.

The team members, who approached City Police Commissioner Jyothiprakash Mirji with an intention to file a complaint against Gayle, was directed to go to Deputy Commissioner (Central Division) G Ramesh and give it in writing.

Mirji told PTI "action will be initiated on whatever the crew gives in writing". PTI
