New Delhi, Apr 21: Former England coach Duncan Fletcher and former New Zealand coach Stephen Fleming have emerged as the frontunners in the race for the post of Team India coach, reports Times of India.

The BCCI, says the report, is going to finalize the replacement for Gary Kirsten after the IPL ends on May 28.

62-year-old Fletcher guided England to a famous 2005 Ashes triumph and was recently involved as a catting consultant with Cricket South Africa.

The report says, Gary Kirsten proposed Fletcher's name before the BCCI. Fletcher also worked as a consultant for the New Zealand team during its ODI series in India last year.

Stephen Fleming is New Zealand's most successful captain and currently coaches Chennai Super Kings.  FLeming, like Kirsten, keeps a low profile and lets his work speak for him.

Rumours in England suggested former Zimbabwe batsman and England's batting consultant Andy Flower is also in the running for the job.

BCCI, the report says, is unlikely to appoint a coach before the West Indies tour unless captain M S Dhoni insists on any one in particular.
