St.. John's, Antigua: England captain Stuart Broad won the toss and chose to bowl first against West Indies on Friday in the opening one-day cricket international at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium at North Sound.
   


England provided debuts to Michael Lumb and Moeen Ali at the top of the order while allrounder Ravi Bopara was appearing in his 100th match.
   
Vice captain Eoin Morgan and Alex Hales were ruled out through injury, with Morgan nursing a sore knee and Hales, a bruised thigh.
   
West Indies also had a key player absent through injury as experienced right-hander Marlon Samuels was forced to miss the match due to a strained groin.
