London: Triple Ashes winner Paul Collingwood has been named England's assistant coach to Ashley Giles for the forthcoming tour of the West Indies and the World Twenty20 in Bangladesh.

The former England all-rounder captained England to the World Twenty20 title in 2010.

England and Wales Cricket Board managing director Paul Downton said: "I am delighted that Paul has agreed to join the England coaching staff for the trips to the West Indies and Bangladesh."

An embarrassing 5-0 Ashes series loss left England in tatters, with emblematic batsman Kevin Pietersen being axed in a bid to rebuild trust within the team. The ECB also announced earlier Wednesday that former England seam bowler Angus Fraser had been appointed to England's selection panel.
