Adelaide, Australia: Australian fast bowler Mitchell Johnson and England allrounder Ben Stokes have been charged with breaching the International Cricket Council's code of conduct after the pair collided on day four of the second Ashes test.

Both players pleaded not guilty in a hearing with ICC Match Referee Jeff Crowe on Monday after Australia's 218-run win in Adelaide on Monday.

Crowe said he was considering the case and sanctions, which could include a fine and or a one-test ban, and a decision would be announced within 24 hours.

Australia takes a 2-0 lead into the third test in Perth, which starts Friday. Johnson, who has 17 wickets in the series so far, has his career-best figures in Perth.

The incident occurred after Johnson took the new ball late on Sunday, an over before New Zealand-born Stokes was dismissed.
