India U-19 skipper Prithvi Shaw was on fire today as his 94-run knock helped India reach a massive score of 328/7 in the first innings of the ICC U-19 World Cup opener against Australia at the Oval, Mount Maunganui in New Zealand.
It was West Indies legend Ian Bishop who was sitting in the commentary box who stated ' That is Tendulkar' when Shaw played a glorious drive off the front foot against Australia.
The U-19 Indian skipper missed out on a century as he was caught behind off by Will Sutherland, son of former Cricket Australia CEO James Sutherland.
Shaw's performance against Australia with the bat gives the cricket fans an indication of whats yet to come as the skipper slammed eight fours and two sixes while facing only 100 balls in his brilliant knock.
Shaw and Manjot Kalra (86) had made a 180 partnership before the first wicket was collected by the Australians. Kalra played an instrumental role as well for building a massive score as he smashed twelve fours and one six in his innings.
After the opener's departure, it was Shubham Gill who added on the scoresheet with his 63 run knock which consisted of six fours and one six.
The middle-order batsmen fell cheaply as they couldn't add much after the top-order batsmen's dismissals.
