The Shiv Sena has made an open appeal for peace with Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS)chief Raj Thackeray.

An editorial published in the party mouthpiece Saamna, on Sunday, the party extended the olive branch to Raj Thackeray and called upon the warring Thackeray cousins to sink their differences.

The article appeals to Raj and Uddhav Thackeray to join hands for the greater good of Maharashtra. Referring to the recent truce between Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani and his younger brother Anil Ambani, the party appeals to Raj and Uddhav to bury their differences.

In the past, Raj Thackeray led MNS had damaged party's fortunes in both the Lok Sabha and state assembly elections. Raj Thackeray had left Shiv Sena in 2005 to form the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena.

The Sena, which is keeping a watchful eye on 2012 municipal elections doesn't want the MNS to eat into its traditional Marathi vote-bank.

In fact, since last month, a Shiv Sena functionary has been carrying out a campaign to unite the two estranged cousins. The campaign has been trying to bring together workers of both the MNS and the Shiv Sena to engage in a dialogue on what attempts could be made to bring the two parties together.
