Mumbai: Maharashtra Assembly elections are just round the corner and pre-election chaos and turbulence have started to build up in the state. On one hand Sena, BJP's 25 years old alliance with Shiv Sena is on the edge of crumbling down over seat – sharing, Congress – NCP alliance, on the other hand, is also struggling to resolve differences over CM candidate.

Incumbent Chief Minister of Maharashtra Prithviraj Chavan has asserted that the his party has reserved the CM post for him if the alliance gets the mandate once again.
The "situation with alliances is fluid", he said, saying "everyone watching what will happen to Shiv Sena-BJP."

He also confirmed that Congress and NCP were under strain because of differences on certain issues.

NCP leader Ajit Pawar, has demanded a 50-50 breakup of Maharashtra's 288 seats. In last assembly elections in 2009, the Congress fought 174 and the NCP 114.
Rejecting NCP demand, Chavan said, “50-50 breakup is not acceptable”.

As for Ajit Pawar's contention that he wants to be Chief Minister, Mr Chavan said anyone is allowed to have ambition but "Congress has made it clear that I am the CM candidate."
