New Delhi, Apr 30: Both houses of parliament were Tuesday disrupted over the allocation of coal blocks, and were adjourned till May 2 after the Lok Sabha passed the Finance Bill for the 2013-14 fiscal.

The main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been pressing for Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's resignation over the coal blocks allocations.

The United Progressive Alliance (UPA) has been the most corrupt government since Independence, the BJP said while stressing that the opposition was not responsible for parliament not transacting any business.

"I want to tell the nation that parliament has failed to transact any business not because the opposition is irresponsible but because the current government is the most corrupt one since Independence," Leader of Opposition Sushma Swaraj said in the Lok Sabha before the Finance Bill was taken up for voting.

The house passed the railway appropriation bill, the demands for grants of various ministries and the Finance Bill 2013-14 by voice vote even as the opposition parties including the BJP, Janata Dal-United, Shiv Sena, the Left parties, Trinmool Congress, AIADMK and Telugu Desam Party walked out in protest.

UPA partner DMK also staged a walk out over the 2G Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) draft report, demanding its chief P.C. Chacko be removed.

The opposition parties had Monday agreed to pass the financial legislations at an all-party meeting called by Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar to break the parliament logjam.

The financial business was needed to be completed on a priority basis to facilitate the funds required to ensure the smooth running of the government.

After the financial business was over, the speaker adjourned the lower house till May 2. Parliament would be off on May 1 on account of May Day.

The Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 2 p.m. and later till May 2 amidst demands by the BJP members for Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's resignation over the coal blocks allocations.

The BJP members started raising slogans as soon as the house began its proceedings after resuming the sitting at 12 noon.

Earlier, both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha were adjourned till 12 noon following repeated disruptions by opposition parties over the allocations of coal blocks and 2G spectrum.
