Patna: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar along with other JD (U) leaders and party workers will observe a 24-hour fast in the state on March 14 to register their protest against NDA government's land acquisition bill and its other policies.

The JD (U) has decided to observe a 24-hour fast on March 14 keeping in view the wider ramifications of government's land acquisition bill and other policies for the country and its people, party's state unit president Bashistha Narayan Singh said.

The party functionaries will observe the fast at the party office here, he added.

Simultaneously, party workers will also observe fast at the district and block levels to apprise the people about the pitfalls of the land acquisition bill, Singh said.

The party will also formulate a host of protest programmes in future to sustain its campaign against the NDA government on a host of issues affecting the people, he said.

The state unit JD (U) president refused to get drawn into comparison after being asked about the former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi and his former cabinet colleagues' day-long fast to be observed tomorrow.

"Though I have nothing to say on the fast to be observed by Manjhi and his men tomorrow, one thing is clear that the former chief minister has been working at the behest of the BJP for past many months," Singh said.
