Muzaffarnagar (UP): BJP leader Sadhvi Prachi on Monday surrendered before the chief judicial magistrate here and was sent to 14 days judicial custody in connection with Muzaffarnagar riots.

The sadhvi is facing charges of making inflammatory speeches at the mahapanchayat on Aug 31 and September 7 at village Nagala Mandaud leading to communal violence.

Cases were registered against her at Sikheda police station and she had been underground since the last three months.

After two BJP MLAs accused of fomenting Muzaffarnagar riots were felicitated at Modi's rally in Agra, Sadhvi Prachi decided to come out of hiding after 92 days to gain recognition.

The court will now hear her plea for regular bail, Chandraveer, advocate for Sadhvi Prachi said.

The counsel said the sadhvi did not make any inflammatory speech.  On August 31 at the mahapanchayat condolence meeting, she did give a speech, but it was not inflammatory, he claimed.

Cases under sec 188/144, 153A, 353 and 341 have been filed against the sadhvi.  The second case was related to September 7, when she addressed a gathering at the "tehraveen" (13th day of mourning) for the two killed Gaurav and Sachin, the counsel said.
