Indore: Former Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has demanded a CBI probe into the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam and also resignation of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on moral grounds.

“The probe should be handed over to the CBI and Chouhan should step down from Chief Minister's post on moral grounds in view of the alleged involvement of his ministers and people associated with them in the scam, for an impartial probe into it,” Scindia told reporters here last night.

Raising questions over the probe into the scam being presently conducted by the Special Task Force (STF), he said the investigation should be done by the CBI.

“It is not possible for the STF to probe the scam.  Instead it should be handed over to the CBI.

Earlier, the BJP leaders were afraid of CBI, but now what hesitation they have in getting the MPPEB scam probed by the central agency?” Scindia said.

He also said that those responsible for the scam should take the onus and the probe should be carried out with full transparency along with strict action in the matter.

The former Union Minister also took to task the Modi-led government at the Centre on the issues of inflation, rise in railway fares, and increase in crimes against women.

Apparently hinting at Union Minister Nihal Chand Meghwal, who is facing rape allegations, Scindia said “the persons who are accused of committing atrocities against women have become Central minister.”

“Why there is so much difference between the BJP's words and deeds?” he asked.

“Before Lok Sabha polls, BJP used to say that good days will come soon, but as a common man, I can say on the basis of government's 30 days that this government has not been able to meet the people's expectations,” Scindia added.
