New Delhi: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Mohammed Taslimuddin today hit out at party Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and said he has joined ranks with Nitish Kumar to promote his family.
Taslimuddin, who represents Araria in Lok Sabha, told India TV, “This should be asked to Lalu what development has taken place. Nitish developed himself and not the region. There is a compromise. He (Lalu) wants to upgrade his family.”
When asked if it will benefit BJP in any way, one of the most influential leader of Seemanchal said, “BJP will get its traditional vote but other discontented voters could also vote for it.”
This comes just a week after RJD's Brahman face Raghunath Jha quit to join Samajwadi Party.
Jha also blamed Lalu of playing favourites to his family members and ignoring other party leaders.
“The behaviour of Prasad has been very bad towards workers and senior leaders. He would never seek any opinion or suggestions from us. His entire focus is on his family and children, and how to take them ahead in politics,” he said.
Party leaders have been in disagreement with Lalu over the alliance with Nitish and the seat sharing formula. Last month, Taslimuddin said that party should not agree at less than 150 seats of 243-member assembly.
“RJD must stake claim to over 150 seats in the 243-member assembly. As far as Seemanchal is concerned, the party has a fair chance in all 24 seats in the region's four districts,” said Taslimuddin.
Senior party leader Raghuvansh Prasad Singh also expressed resentment several times over seat allocation.
