Final update: India TV-CVoter exit poll predicts majority for BJP in Haryana, short of majority in Maharashtra

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party may score a majority in Haryana, while it may still fall short of a clear majority in Maharashtra, says an IndiaTV-CVoter exit poll which has been updated based on trends that came in till 6 pm today when polling ended.The earlier exit poll was based on trends received till 3 pm, pollster C-Voter clarified.In the 90-seat Haryana assembly, the BJP is projected to emerge as the single largest party within a range of 42-48 seats, closely followed by Om Prakash Chautala's Indian National Lok Dal with a range of 20-26 seats. Fortysix seats are needed to score a clear majority in the assembly.The Congress party, ruling the state for the last 10 years, is projected to come third with a range of 12-18 seats.Haryana Janhit Congress-Haryana Jan Chetna Party alliance may win within a range of 1-7 seats, while 'Others' and independents may win within a range of 0-6 seats, says the exit poll.In the 2009 assembly elections in Haryana, the Congress had won 40 seats, the INLD 31, BJP four, HJC and HJP 6, and Others 9 seats.Voteshare wise, BJP this time may get 33 pc votes, followed by INLD with 26 pc, Congress 23 pc, HJC-HJP 7 pc and Others 11 per cent.The calculations are based on what CVoter said "the cumulative tracking poll data of 19,000+ respondents interviewed today on Polling Day across randomly selected assembly segments in the state. Data weighted to known census profile, and the margin of error is plus/minus 3 per cent at state level, and plus/minus 5 pc at regional level."In the crucial western state of Maharashtra, the BJP may be short of majority by a whisker, says the final India TV-CVoter exit poll. The final exit poll figures project BJP as the single largest party in the 288-seat assembly within a range of 133-143 seats, clearly short of the magical figure of 145.BJP is followed by former ally Shiv Sena with a range of 54-64 seats. The Nationalist Congress Party is projected to win within a range of 25-35 seats, followed by former ally Congress within a range of 36-46 seats.Raj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena is projected to win within a range of 9-15 seats, while smaller parties and independents may win within a range of 5-11 seats, says the exit poll.In the 2009 assembly elections in Maharashtra, the Congress-NCP United Progressive Alliance had won 144 seats, the BJP-Shiv Sena NDA had won 90 and 'Others' 54 seats.Voteshare wise, BJP is going to get 28 pc votes, followed by Shiv Sena with 20 pc, NCP 15 pc, Congress 20 pc and MNS 6 pc votes.
