"I feel bad about reports that Singh will fight from here when I have no idea about this," he had said.

Senior UP BJP leader Kalraj Mishra admitted that there have been discussions about these seats but denied any controversy in the party over it.

"There have been talks about who should be fielded from where to maximise our chances of winning and also strike a balance. We have been discussing whose candidature can influence the surrounding region in favour of party," he said in an apparent hint about possibility of Modi contesting from Varanasi.
