Bengaluru:  The low intensity blast outside a popular restaurant in Bengaluru is being seen as a retaliatory attack against the arrest of pro Islamic twitter handler Mehdi Masroor Biswas.

Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah did not rule out the possibility that the perpetrators of the crime wanted to send out a message by causing a low intensity blast.

While briefing the media person a top security official has said that “In all the explosions, we have found imprints of a module of outlawed SIMI that has been active since its members escaped from Madhya Pradesh's Khandwa jail in September last year.”

"We suspect the SIMI group from Madhya Pradesh must have come to Karnataka. The police are investigating the blast and looking into this angle besides looking at the modus-operandi of other explosion incidents that occurred in Bengaluru in 2008, 2010 and 2013," Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah said after a meeting with home minister K J George and senior police officials.

The state police suspect the involvement of five members of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) who escaped from Madhya Pradesh's Khandwa district jail.
