Vijaypur (J&K): Hitting out at BJP for allegedly misleading the people in Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today expressed surprise over the ignorance of BJP and its leadership about the ground realities in Jammu and Kashmir.

“BJP has double standards as they attempt to mislead people by narrating false tales. We are surprised over the ignorance of BJP and its leadership about the ground realities in Jammu and Kashmir,” Omar, the working president of National Conference, said.

Omar expressed his views while addressing an election rally here in Samba district in favour of party candidate Surjit Singh Slathia.

The misleading statement of BJP leadership about the tourist traffic in J-K and promising that it would ask Bollywood to resume shooting of films in the Valley, depicts the total lack of knowledge of the BJP about the ground situation in the state, Omar said.

Substantiating his statement with facts, Omar said BJP and its leadership should know that the number of yatris to Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine has crossed over one crore figure yearly in the tenure of his government and during the last five years more than 50 lakh tourists visited the valley annually which is also a record so far in last about 25 years.

He said that BJP should also know that Bollywood film companies are already busy in the Valley for shooting films and this process is going on since last five years.  The NC working president said it is absurd on the part of BJP to deceive people by asking them to vote in favour of Narendra Modi while the fact is that Modi is not fighting assembly elections and as such has nothing to do with the local issues.

Omar said the NC is not doing politics on religion, region or development like BJP.

“We do not create wedge between Hindus and Muslims, Kashmiri-Jammuvi and Ladakhi, and do not do politics on the issues of development and public good,” he said.
