New Delhi: To counter a sizeable presence of Aam Aadmi Party workers from Mumbai in Delhi, the Mumbai unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has dispatched scores of party leaders to poll-bound Delhi.

Mumbai BJP chief Ashish Shelar said, there is nothing unusual in it as party members are often called during election campaigns.

The cadre will be working on ground zero to connect people with candidates and also to ensure that the party emerges victorious in the city, he said.

A senior central office bearer of the BJP said the decision was taken after the party recognised that a large number of AAP workers from Mumbai have flocked to the national capital ahead for an aggressive campaign.

The BJP was not keen on getting outsiders for the Delhi poll campaign. The original plan was to focus the campaign with the help of city unit and workers from neighbouring states.

Delhi assembly polls are due in a week time as the polling is scheduled to be held on February 7 and results on February 10.
