Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar on Thursday projected 'all is well' in the government, seeking to blame the media for giving "disproportionate importance" to the controversy involving his colleague Jairam Ramesh and earlier Shashi Tharoor.
"Some of the things which we have read in the newspapers about some of my colleagues that somebody has said something in China about some ministry or some other colleague has made some statements here and there.
"I think that we are giving disproportionate importance for that. Beyond that, I don't think that type of situation is there what (has been) described," Pawar, who is heading the NCP, a key ally of the Congress-led coalition, told reporters in New Delhi .
Pawar, while speaking at an interaction organised by Indian Women Press Corps (IWPC), was replying to a question why there was no cohesiveness in the coalition with ministers speaking in different voices and even attacking the government policies.
"I don't see any problem, forget about any local issues, otherwise I don't see any major political differences," he said.
Besides, Pawar emphasised, "the understanding within the government set up is absolutely good... the leadership has full support of all members and there is a perfect understanding between each individual."
"I don't see any problem in DMK, NCP and Trinamool Congress, besides Congress in UPA-II... No one feels that this is a government which consists of different political parties. In fact, this is one political team," he said.
At the same time, he said most of the differences seemed to be "within the Congress" itself. He defended Home Minister P Chidambaram's approach towards tackling the naxal menace. "Whatever policy has been announced is not individual policy but we all have agreed and we all are part of it." PTI
