Sugary soft drinks: They feel refreshing for a moment, but high sugar content can actually increase dehydration. Sugar pulls water out of your body, leaving you thirstier than before.

Alcohol: Alcohol acts as a diuretic, meaning it makes your body lose more water. In hot weather, this can quickly lead to dehydration, fatigue and even dizziness.

Caffeinated drinks: Too much caffeine can increase fluid loss and may raise your body temperature slightly. Energy drinks, in particular, combine caffeine with sugar, which is a double hit.

Packaged fruit juices: They sound healthy, but most packaged juices are loaded with added sugars and lack fibre. They spike blood sugar and do little to actually hydrate you.

Very cold or iced sugary drinks: Extremely cold drinks can shock your system and may slow down digestion. They can also give only temporary relief without proper hydration.

Flavoured milkshakes and heavy smoothies: These are often high in sugar and fat, making them heavy on the stomach. Instead of cooling you down, they can leave you feeling sluggish and overheated.
