Three killed in Manipur blast at bus stand

Imphal: For the fourth time in a fortnight,  unidentified militants triggered an IED blast in Imphal on Wednesday morning killing three persons and injuring four others.The blast took place at Hicham Yaicham Pat bus stand.


The frequent blasts have forced police to change their operational strategy to guard the city that houses the Raj Bhavan, CM's bungalow, secretariat, assembly, head offices of various government departments and official residences of VVIPs.


The controversial Armed Forces(Special Powers) Act has been lifted from Imphal municipal areas following intense public agitation since  2004.

The injured victims have been identified as Kishan Chakrabarty and Rajdeev Sharma (both students) of Serou village in Thoubal district, migrant workers Raghunath Madhap and Sambhu Shah from Bihar and A Arun, a local taxi driver. 

The bomb, believed to have been planted beneath a hand cart belonging to migrant workers, went off in the morning.

The southern compound wall of Bheirodan Maxwell High School was damaged due to the impact of the blast.
