New Delhi: HRD Minister Smriti Irani today launched a social awareness programme for the girl child “I Am” at a school here, expressing the hope such programmes will empower especially those who are struggling to have two square meals a day.
“Such programmes are crucial in our country where we idolise Shakti, we have many girls who are still struggling to have two square meals a day, to have basic education, to have basic rights as human beings and as citizens,” she said.
The programme was launched in DPS, Dwarka.
A documentary highlighting the problems faced by the girl child globally was screened on the occasion.
