Remembering India's freedom fighters: Lala Lajpat Rai

New Delhi: If there was anyone known as the Lion of Punjab during British rule,  it was  Lala Lajpat Rai, also called Punjab Kesari. Born on January 28, 1865 in village Dhudike, in present day



He had his initial education in Government Higher Secondary School in Rewari, (now in Haryana, previously in Punjab), 





He studied law from 1880 at Government College, Lahore.  He started his legal practice in 1885 in Hissar.

Lala Lajpat Rai was one of the three most prominent Hindu nationalist members of the Indian National Congress. He was part of the Lal-Bal-Pal trio. The other two members of the trio were Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Bipin Chandra Pal.
