Poonch: Pakistani armed forces violated the ceasefire along the Line of Control(Loc) for the second time within the time span of 12 hours . The Pakistani rangers started firing on the Indian villages today at around 1.40 pm today in the border areas of the Poonch sector.  

Earlier the Pakistani troops had targeted several Indian positions in Naushera sector of Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Pakistani Army started "unprovoked" firing on Indian positions at 9:25 last night and the firing lasted till 11:45 PM, a defence spokesman said today.

An Indian army spokesperson told reporters "Our troops effectively retaliated to the unprovoked firing from across the border,".

The Pakistan army opened ‘unprovoked' firing on the Indian army positions in the Shah Pur Kerni area of Poonch sector, the officer said.

He said that the Pakistan army resorted to ‘unprovoked firing' on the Indian positions this afternoon at around 1:50 pm and the intermittent firing was going on when the reports last came in.

The officer said that the Indian side has effectively retaliated to the firing from across the border.  Today's ceasefire violation is the second such violations on the Line of Control in the past 12 hours.  

Pakistan army had resorted to ‘unprovoked' firing on the Indian positions in the Naushera sector of Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir late last night.  

Pakistani Army started “unprovoked” firing on Indian positions at 9:25 pm last night and the firing lasted till 11:45 pm , a Defence spokesman said.  “Our troops effectively retaliated to the unprovoked firing from across the border,” the Spokesman said.  He said no loss of life or injury was reported from the Indian side when the reports last came in.  

There has seen a sudden spurt of ceasefire violations from across the border this month.A woman was killed and six others, including two BSF jawans, were injured on July 15 in firing and mortar shelling in Jammu district by Pakistan Rangers.  

On July 9, Pakistani troops had fired at a forward border post in North Kashmir killing a BSF jawan.  On July 5, a BSF jawan was killed in Pakistani firing along LoC in Nougam sector in Kashmir Valley.
