Bhubaneswar: In a bid to provide quick justice to people in remote areas, the Odisha government today decided to set up at least 45 new courts in different parts of the state.

The decision in this regard was taken at a high level meeting presided over by finance minister Pradip Kumar Amat here. With the setting up of 45 new courts, people will get a court every 50 km apart in the state.

Earlier, the Orissa High Court had recommended new courts in the state, law minister Arun Kumar Sahoo said.  The government will set up 45 different level courts like family court (3), additional district judge court (5), judicial magistrate fast-track court (22) and civil judge (senior division) court (15) this year.

“We are also planning to set up courts at each district in the coming days,” said Law secretary Mihir Ranjan Parida.
