Barnala, Punjab: Nine persons were killed and five others were critically injured when a Tata Venture carrying passengers collided with a truck  at Pakho Kenchia Chowk in Barnala on Saturday night. The impact of the

Barnala, Punjab: Nine persons were killed and five others were critically injured when a Tata Venture carrying passengers collided with a truck  at Pakho Kenchia Chowk in Barnala on Saturday night.



The impact of the collision was so severe that the Tata Venture vehicle was smashed to pieces.

Six persons died on the spot while three others died on way to hospital. Two of those critically injured have been sent to Patiala.
 
All those killed belonged to Kotkapura town and were going to Patiala to offer prayers at the Kali Devi temple. Those dead include three men, four women and two kids.

The truck driver absconded after the mishap.

One of the injured Gurpreet Singh said there were 10 to 11 people inside the Tata Venture and all of them were going to Kali Devi temple, when the truck going towards Barnala dashed into their vehicle.
