Myanmar President visits tomb of Burmese King Thibaw in Ratnagiri

Incidentally, India's last Mughal emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar was exiled by the British to Rangoon, where he died in 1862 and was buried there.



Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had visited his tomb on a visit to Myanmar earlier this year.

President Sein, during his 2-hour visit to Ratnagiri, also met descendants of the King Thibaw at the government rest house.

“The meeting was marked by emotion and the President enquired about their well-being and invited them to visit Myanmar,” an official in Ratnagiri told PTI.
