Thane: District Legal Aid Services Authority which organised a lecture for inmates of the Thane Central jail to educate them about legal rights.
The lecture was held recently to observe the National Legal Services Day.
Secretary of Authority R S Salgaonkar said inmates participated in the open discussions and also asked queries related legal issues.
Principal District Judge R R Gandhi on the occasion spoke on various legal rights of the prisoners and also interacted with them.
Inmates were given information on the need of plea bargaining, sentence bargaining, and compounding of offence.
The participants were also briefed about right to bail and remand.
