Hyderabad: After two days of the immersion of the Khairatabad's Maha Ganpati idol, devotees visited the venue to take ‘prasadham' from the huge laddu of 5000 kg.
According to the decision of Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samiti, “to distribute prasadham is a part of the offering to devotees”. Devotees almost thousands in numbers started to line up since 6 a.m. and by noon, huge crowd queues could be seen.
The samiti members and police had set up barricades to control the crowd but the crowd spilled over towards the distribution process and went on amidst jostling and pushing, creating chaos for sometime.
The prasadham, i.e, massive laddu was prepared by Sri Bhaktanjaneya's Suruchi Foods, East Godavari who have been providing the same for Khairatabad Ganesh idol since the last four years.
A segment of the laddu was placed on one side for the distribution process whereas on the other side devotees including children, women and the elderly formed a group for a part of the offering that went on till late in the day.
