The attitude, the persona, the charisma of  Indian army officers are simply indispensable.

Its because of these brave army officers only, that we, the people can sleep freely and live without any fear, because somewhere deep down in our hearts we know we are safe enough because our soldiers are awake at the borders to protect us and our motherland.

The Indian Army consits of various regiments which guard our country and who are ready to sacrifice their lives at one call from the motherland.

Lets have a look at the brave regiments of the Indian Army :  


Gorkha Regiments


 

The Gorkha regiment was formerly a part of British Indian Army, but ever since Independence it became an indispensable part of the Indian Army.

The Gorkha Regiment is know for its courage in the battlefield which is discernible by the gallantary awards won by the Gorkha soldiers and the battle honour awards awarded to the Gorkha battalions.

Currently there are 7 Gorkha Regiments in the Indian Army out of which six were tranferred from the British Indian Army and one was raised post-independence.

The 7 Gorkha Regiments of the Indian Army are- 1 Gorkha Rifles, 3 Gorkha Rifles, 4 Gorkha Rifles, 5 Gorkha Rifles, 8 Gorkha Rifles, 9 Gorkha Rifles and  11 Gorkha Rifles. 11 Gorkha Rifles was raised post-independence.

Out these 7 Gorkha Regiments, 11 Gorkha Rifles have been part of almost all the operations undertaken by the Indian army after independence.

Their war cry is " Ayo Gorkhali", which means 'The Gorkhas are here'.
