‘Love Jihad'

Now, let's talks about ‘Love Jihad' -- a ‘controversial' phenomenon of marrying non-Muslim communities for conversion to Islam by feigning love. The word has raised communal passions across the country in recent past.

‘Love Jihad', also called ‘Romeo Jihad', was alleged to be brought into limelight after few cases reported from Kerala and Karnataka.

The activity includes enticing gullible girls in the name of love and then forcibly converting them into to Islam for subsequent use in anti-national activities. The purpose of the activity is to force girls to produce children for Islam.

The recent case of Tara Sahdev, a national level shooter from Ranchi, has added fuel to the hot topic with political outfits indulging in a ‘blame game'.



It 2009, a case was reported from Kerala where two girls, one Hindu and one Christian, were forced to convert into Islam by two Muslim youths.

Cases of ‘Love Jihad' also emerged from Pakistan and the United Kingdom.
