Mumbai, Dec 10 :  Saying that he had no confidence in the video conference link, Pakistani terrorist Ajmal Kasab today expressed his desire to come personally before the Bombay High court to hear arguments on confirmation of death sentence awarded to him for his role in 26/11 terror attacks.

Kasab told this to his lawyers Farhana Shah and Hussein Sheikh who met him in Arthur Road Jail this evening. "Kasab told us that he wished to come personally to hear the case as it was difficult to understand anything through the video conference link," Shah told PTI.

He also alleged jail authorities were not providing him reading material like newspapers and books. However, the jailor informed his lawyers that some Urdu books were given to him.

The defence lawyers said they would inform the High Court on Monday about this.

For some days after the proceedings began in the High Court, Kasab appeared on the screen put up in for the videoconference link. But later, he did not venture out of his cell.

The 24-year-old terrorist is confined to Arthur Road Central prison in a high security bullet and bomb-proof cell.
He is guarded round the clock by Indo Tibetan Border Force men.

On May 3, the trial court had sentenced Kasab to death for his role in killing 166 persons in the 26/11 attacks. He
filed an appeal in the High Court challenging his conviction and death sentence. PTI
