Srinagar, May 6: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has said that hardline Hurriyat Conference leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani was losing the feel of the people's pulse in Kashmir by calling for funeral prayers for slain Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden.
"One gets the feeling that he's (Geelani) losing his touch on the pulse of the people - first Panchayat elections and now the funeral prayers," Omar said in response to a tweet on a micro-blogging site.
Laden was killed in a pre-dawn operation by the US Navy Seals in Pakistan's Abbottabad earlier this week.
The Hurriyat hawk has called for funeral prayers in absentia for the world's most wanted terrorist after Friday congregational prayers.
Geelani was placed under house arrest yesterday as authorities apprehended trouble after he planned to lead one such funeral prayer for bin Laden in Batamaloo area of the city. PTI
