New Delhi: Consent from ground floor owners will be “desirable but not mandatory” in seeking NOC for installation of lifts in DDA's group housing flats, the urban body said today.

Under the revised policy for installation of lifts, the documents required for the no-objection certificate (NOC) include a consent for installation of lift in individual block (served by a common staircase) from owners/legal representatives of at least 50 per cent of the flats in the staircase of that block, DDA Vice-Chairman Balvinder Kumar said in a statement.

“The consent from ground floor owner is desirable but not mandatory,” Kumar said. Other documents required would be a certificate from registered structural engineer or architect stating that the structural design of lift well is as per provisions of the National Building Code, he said.

The NOC shall be issued by the Chief Engineer (HQ) after due verification of all documents, the DDA said.
