Mumbai, July 31 : Under flak for potholes-ridden roads in the city, the chairman of the standing committee in Shiv Sena-controlled Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Rahul Shewale yesterday offered to put in his papers. Shewale forwarded his resignation to the party president Uddhav Thackeray who in turn rejected it.

Shewale decided to quit after Uddhav expressed disappointment on the sorry state of roads in the city after he reviewed the pothole-filling work undertaken by the civic body on Monday night.

"I tendered my resignation as Uddhavji had to apologise to the people from the city for potholes," Shewale told reporters.
