New Delhi: Violent clashes erupted between the locals and police today in Palwal district of Haryana, barely a few kilometers away from the national capital, leaving several people injured. As per information available, violence broke out

New Delhi: Violent clashes erupted between the locals and police today in Palwal district of Haryana, barely a few kilometers away from the national capital, leaving several people injured. 

As per information available, violence broke out in the area after local villagers stopped a truck allegedly carrying cow meat and beat up the driver of the vehicle. Angry mobs also damaged the vehicle before blocking the Palwal-Aligarh highway.

The blockade led to immense chaos resulting in several vehicles being stuck in the commotion. Hundreds of people were reported to have gathered on the spot and staged protests. 

Police reached the spot upon receiving the information and rescued the driver from the mob before taking him into custody. Angry villagers pelted stones on policemen as they tried to clear the chaos. The police too retaliated with firing several rounds in the air. 

Two policemen are said to have been injured in the clashes.

There is massive police presence in the area after the incident to prevent any untoward incident.
