Bangalore, Sept 18: K.C.Murali, a software engineer here opened 68 with his teeth within a minute and staked his claim for a place in Guinness Book of World Records. The present record is 63 bottles in a minute.

Watched by  observers, Murali proceeded to open 73 beer bottle metal corks kept on a table, but managed to open 68 within the prescribed time.

According to Guinness Book of World Records rules, the entire event was videotaped and the written evidence of independent observers will be sent to the publishers, following which Murali's name will appear in the next edition of the book.

Blood came out of Murali's lips as he moved at breakneck speed.

Arvind Janno, Excise commissioner of Karnataka government, was among the independent observers who came to watch Murali perform the feat.

Later Murali said he was not a professional stunt performer. He had this habit of opening beer bottles with his teeth whenever he attended parties with friends. He had been practising for this feat for the last three months.
