Patna: The Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of Bihar police yesterday raided the premises of two engineers and seized documents of assets worth Rs 4.50 crore, police said.



Acting on a tip off, the EOW men searched the residence of retired additional engineer Shishir Kumar and seized documents of immovable assets comprising six flats at Patna, Delhi and Pune, in addition to three houses at Hajipur worth Rs 2.65 crore.

Papers of fixed deposits in banks, gold, three cars, household goods, and insurance policies worth Rs 40.72 lakh have also been recovered from Kumar's house at Hajipur.  

Another EOW team carried out raids at various premises of the Irrigation department's Superintending Engineer Bharat Purve at his house in Muzaffarpur, police said.  

Documents of three plots in the name of self and wife in Darbhanga district, two flats in Bahadurpur Housing Colony in Patna and two flats in Kumhrar colony in Patna were found.  

The value of all these immovable assets have been shown at Rs 66.08 lakh.

Documents seized pertaining to cash deposits in banks, insurance policies, recurring deposits, jewellery and vehicles, besides Rs 5.28 lakh cash were seized.

Further details of assets of the two officials were being ascertained, the sources said, adding that the two have been booked under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
