New Delhi, Jun 20: The army has ordered a Court of Inquiry (CoI) against a Brigadier after allegations of financial impropriety were received against him.

A CoI has been ordered against Brigadier L I Singh posted recently as the Deputy Director General, Discipline and Vigilance at the Army Headquarters, after allegations were levelled that he took money from his subordinates while commanding a Brigage in Sikkim, mostly at the time of writing their annual confidential reports but did not return it, Army sources said here.

They said the officer has held a clean record, a mandatory requirement for officers to be posted at the DV branch. The allegations had surfaced after he was posted here in April this year.

The inquiry against the officer was ordered on June 15 after a preliminary inquiry was conducted against him by the 27 Division Commander based in the northeast.

Brig Singh is at present on leave and the CoI against him will begin only after he rejoins, army sources said.

The DV Branch of the Army Headquarters has recently been in the news for issuing show cause notices from former Army Chief Gen V K Singh to current Eastern Army Commander Lt Gen Dalbir Singh Suhag and officers under him in the 3 Corps.
