10 corruption cases in CWG projects closed by CVC

New Delhi: As many as 10 graft cases in Commonwealth games related projects have been closed by the Central Vigilance commission following investigation.  In response to an RTI query, the CVC closed the case of



A complaint of alleged corruption from BJP MLA Harsh Vardhan in procurement of about Rs 100 crore secure communication network ‘Tetra' had also been closed last year, it said.

The projects, investigated by CVC, were related to the mega sporting extravaganza held here between October 3-14, 2010.

At least 37 government departments have spent over Rs 13,000 crore in 9,000 publicly-funded CWG-related projects.  

A Group of Ministers, headed by Defence Minister A K Antony, is looking into reports of alleged financial and managerial irregularities submitted to the government by a high level committee appointed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

The HLC, under the chairmanship of former Comptroller and Auditor General V K Shunglu, has submitted six reports to the Prime Minister's Office.
