Visakhapatnam: Prohibition and excise department sleuths on Saturday seized a government ambulance transporting 190 kgs of ganja, and arrested two persons in this connection.  

The two arrested persons were identified as ambulance driver M Venkatraju and ganja smuggler G Adinarayana. Both accused hail from Lambasingi in Chintapalli mandal.

As per reports, the ganja was procured from interior parts of of Chintapalli mandal and was being transported in the ambulance to Yerravaram village in Nathavaram mandal. 

The smuggler was supposed to hand over the contraband to a person at Yerravaram. The driver revealed that he was offered Rs 35,000 for transporting the material from Lammasingi to Yerravaram.

The excise cops stopped the ambulance at Marripalem check-post, and arrested the duo and seized the ganja and the vehicle. A case was later registered the NDPS Act.

As per reports, this is the second case of this sort in two years. Earlier an ambulance was caught transporting ganja back in August 2014.

It occured at Paderu where excise cops seized around 360 kgs of ganja from an ambulance of Pedabayalu PHC.
