Union Minister Nitin Gadkari reached Pune airport earlier today and proceeded directly to Baramati to attend the last rites of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. Leaders from across the political spectrum are gathering to pay their final respects.

The hearse van carrying the mortal remains of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar departed from his Katewadi residence in Baramati. The late leader’s final rites will be performed at the Vidya Pratishthan ground, where thousands are expected to gather to pay their last respects. 

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar was accorded full state honours as he was laid to rest a day after losing his life in a tragic chartered plane crash in Baramati. Leaders, family members and supporters gathered in large numbers to bid an emotional farewell to the veteran politician.

Fresh visuals have surfaced from the residence of Captain Sumit Kapoor, the pilot of the aircraft that tragically crashed in Baramati while carrying Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. The atmosphere at his home remains tense and emotional as family members and neighbours process the devastating news.

Due to the huge crowd gathered in Baramati, Ajit Pawar's mortal remains will not be taken to Gadima Hall. Instead, they will be transported directly from Katewadi to the Vidya Pratishthan grounds for the final rites, as per the information. The final rites will be performed at 11 am.

Sharad Pawar has reached at the Vidya Pratishthan grounds in Baramati to attend the last rites of his nephew Ajit Pawar. Supporters of NCP chief and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar gathered outside Ahilyabai Holkar Government Medical College to pay their final respects as his mortal remains were taken out.

An emotional supporter was seen breaking down in tears while offering homage to Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, who died yesterday in a tragic aircraft crash in Baramati. The accident claimed the lives of everyone onboard, leaving the region in deep shock and mourning.

Jay Pawar, son of the late Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, was seen at the family’s Katewadi residence in Baramati. Supporters and relatives continue to gather at the home, paying their respects and sharing in the grief of the Pawar family.

Even as the whole nation is in shock and grief after the death of Ajit Pawar in a plane crash, Maharashtra Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections will be geld as scheduled on February 5 despite the state mourning, State Election Commission said.

Preparations for the funeral of NCP Chief and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar are underway at the Vidya Pratishthan ground in Baramati. He passed away yesterday when the aircraft he was travelling in crashed in Baramati, killing all on board.

Police registered an accidental death report (ADR) case in connection with the plane crash that killed Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and four others in Baramati in Pune district on Wednesday, an official said. Pawar (66) and four other persons on board a chartered aircraft were killed after it crashed barely 200 metres from the edge of a tabletop runway at the Baramati airport in the morning.

Sources have indicated that three members of the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) visited the office of VRS Ventures as part of the ongoing probe into the Ajit Pawar plane crash case. The team questioned the company owner and office-bearers for nearly 90 minutes seeking details relevant to the investigation.

In the wake of the tragic plane crash that killed NCP Chief and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Pune Rural Police has registered an accidental death report at the Baramati taluka police station. The chartered aircraft, which was flying from Mumbai to Baramati, crash-landed on Wednesday morning at the runway threshold, killing all five persons on board. Among the deceased was Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, along with his personal security officer (PSO), an attendant, and the two pilots.

Supporters of NCP Chief and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar have begun assembling outside the Ahilyabai Holkar Government Medical College in Baramati, hoping to catch a final glimpse of their beloved leader. The senior politician's last rites will be performed today at 11 am at Vidhya Pratisthan in Baramati. 

Shiv Sena leader Deepak Kesarkar said the tragic incident has left everyone mourning and recalling the legacy of Ajit Dada. He described Pawar as a highly disciplined leader who began his day early and maintained absolute command over the administration. Kesarkar added that Pawar was warm-hearted, which earned him love and respect from people across the state. 

He noted that the entire state of Maharashtra is in deep sorrow and emphasised that no politics should be done during such a difficult moment. Reflecting on his long association with Pawar, Kesarkar said he began his political career in the Congress alongside Pawar Saheb and later moved to the NCP when it was formed. "I started my political career in Congress along with Pawar Saheb. When NCP was formed, I joined NCP. Dada loved all of us, and Sharad Pawar Saheb was an inspiration for all of us," Kesarkar added. 

NCP leader Yogesh Nale broke down while speaking about Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. With tears in his eyes, he said it felt as though Baramati had lost everything with the passing of its tallest leader. He recalled how Pawar treated his supporters like family and added that the people of Baramati had been in tears since yesterday, struggling to come to terms with the loss.

The post-mortem examinations of the two pilots who were flying the chartered aircraft that crash-landed at Baramati airport on Wednesday morning have been completed, and their mortal remains were handed over to family members for last rites. The post-mortems of pilot Captain Sumit Kapoor and co-pilot Captain Shambhavi Pathak were conducted at the Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Government Medical College in Baramati. Following the procedure, the bodies were released to their respective families.

A teary-eyed NCP worker, Chandrashekar Patil, mourned Ajit Pawar's death and reflected on the Deputy CM's hardworking routine. "Who will we go to now?....the elder person of this family has left, who will guide us now? Everyone has been mourning his death. It's extremely unfortunate....He used to wake up at 5 am, listen to people's grievances and continue with his working schedule," Patil recalled while breaking into tears.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the death of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in a plane crash was untimely and very shocking. In a post on X, PM Modi said Ajit Pawar was a leader of the people with a strong grassroots level connect. "Shri Ajit Pawar Ji was a leader of the people, having a strong grassroots level connect. He was widely respected as a hardworking personality at the forefront of serving the people of Maharashtra. His understanding of administrative matters and passion for empowering the poor and downtrodden were also noteworthy. His untimely demise is very shocking and saddening. Condolences to his family and countless admirers. Om Shanti," PM Modi said.

Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar died in a plane crash on Wednesday morning. According to DGCA, five people, including the crew, on board the chartered plane flying from Mumbai to Baramati died after a crash-landing at 8.45 am.The crash landing of Mumbai-Baramati charter plane occurred at the runway threshold in Baramati. Pawar was onboard along with 2 more personnel (1 PSO and 1 attendent) and 2 crew members.

Following the passing of Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis proclaimed a state holiday and ordered three days of mourning across Maharashtra. The national flag will be flown at half-mast across Maharashtra during the three-day mourning period in accordance with established protocol. All government-sponsored entertainment events have been cancelled during the mourning period.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister Amit Shah and other top leaders are scheduled to visit Maharashtra's Baramati today to attend the last rites of state's Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. 66-year-old NCP leader passed away in a chartered plane crash while travelling from Mumbai to Baramati on Wednesday morning. 

The mortal remains of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar will be carried in a decorated rath for his 'Antim Yatra' today. The chariot is adorned with flowers, featuring Pawar's image and a board reading "Swargiya Ajitdada Pawar amar rahein" (Long live Ajit Dada Pawar). The funeral procession for Maharashtra's longest-serving Deputy CM (non-consecutively) will start from the Vidya Pratishthan campus (Gadima) at 9 am. It will pass through the city for people to pay their respects to Pawar, and culminate at the Vidya Pratishthan Ground for the funeral which is scheduled to take place at 11 am.
