Arvind Trivedi (Ravan of epic serial Ramayan), a Gujarati film star and ex parliamentarian passed away on Tuesday night. He was elected for Loksabha in 1991 from Sabarkantha seat from the ticket of BJP. As soon as the shocking news spread, condolences poured in from his co-actors Sunil Lahir (Lakshman), Dipika Chikhlia (Sita), Arun Govil (Ram) and others.

Senior actor Arvind Trivedi who played the crucial role of Raavan in  Ramanand Sagar mythological show 'Ramayan' passed away on Tuesday night. The Gujarati film star and ex parliamentarian was elected for Loksabha in 1991 from Sabarkantha seat from the ticket of BJP. As soon as the shocking news spread, condolences poured in from his co-actors Sunil Lahri (Lakshman), Dipika Chikhlia (Sita), Arun Govil (Ram) and others. Sunil took to Twitter and mourned his shocking demise and wrote in a tweet, "Bahut dukhad Samachar hai ki Hamare Sabke Pyare Arvind bhai (Ravan of Ramayan) Ab Hamare bich Nahin RaheDisappointed but relieved face Bhagwan Unki Atma ko Shanti De...I am speechless I lost father figure, my guide, well wisher & gentleman."

The 82 year old veteran actor was not keeping well for quite some time and lost his life after suffering a heart attack and multiple organ failure. His last rites will take place on Wednesday morning in Mumbai. Not just Ramayan, the actor even played a significant role in Vikram Aur Betaal. He has featured in as many as 300 films including Hindi and Gujarati which included social and mythological genres.

Not just Arvind Trivedi's co-stars but also a number of fans took to Twitter and condoled his shocking demise. Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled his death and wrote, "We have lost Shri Arvind Trivedi, who was not only an exceptional actor but also was passionate about public service. For generations of Indians, he will be remembered for his work in the Ramayan TV serial. Condolences to the families and admirers of both actors. Om Shanti."

Actor Arun Govil tweeted, "आध्यात्मिक रूप से रामावतार का कारण और सांसारिक रूप से एक बहुत ही नेक,धार्मिक, सरल स्वभावी इंसान और मेरे  अतिप्रिय मित्र अरविंद त्रिवेदी जी को आज मानव समाज ने खो दिया। नि:संदेह वे सीधे परमधाम जाएंगे और भगवान श्रीराम का सानिध्य पाएंगे।"

Actress Dipika also took to her Instagram handle and penned an emotional note reading, "my heart felt condolences to his family …a very fine human being #arvindtrivedi #ravan."

Ashoke Pandit tweeted, "Sad to know about the demise of well known theatre,tv & film actor #ArvindTrivedi ji due to massive heart attack. My heartfelt condolences to his entire family & near ones. ॐ शांति !"

The actor came to limelight once again when public broadcaster Doordarshan during the coronavirus lockdown in the country re-telecasted the epic show. When the episode of 'Sita Apharan' got aired, his video went viral on the internet. In the same, he was seen getting emotional while watching the show with folded hands.

The rumours of Trivedi's death spread a number of times. Hie nephew once tweeted, "Dear all my uncle Arvind Trivedi lankesh is all good and safe. Stop spreading fake news it is request. Now please spread this. Thanks." While another time, Sunil rubbished the reports and wrote, "Aajkal Koi Na Koi Buri Khabar sunane Ko milati Hai carona ki vajah se, Upar Se Arvind Trivedi ji (Ravan) ki jhuthi khabar, Meri Prathna Hai jhuthi afwah failane Walon se kripya Karke Is Tarah ki khabar na failaye... Bhagwan ki Daya se Arvind ji theek hain aur Prathna Karta Hun Ki Bhagwan unhen sadaiv Swasth rakhen."

The show became the world's most-watched show and trended on top spots on social media. The role of Ram was played by Arun Govil, Sita played by Deepika Chikhalia, Lakshman was played by Sunil Lahiri, and Hanuman by late Dara Singh. It also featured Sanjay Jog, late Vijay Arora, Sameer Rajda, late Mulraj Rajda, and late Lalita Pawar.
