Ayan Mukerji has been quite active on Instagram since the day he made his social media debut. From revealing details about his upcoming project Brahmastra to giving a sneak-peek into his personal life, the director seems to be enjoying the social media to the fullest. Recently, the director dug deep into his photo archive to treat his fans and followers with a throwback photo. Ayan shared a photo from the sets of Ashutosh Gowariker's Swades starring Shah Rukh Khan. In the picture, we can see a smiling 19-year-old boy Ayan himself along with Aamir Khan in his Mangal Pandey look. Also, present in the photo are Kiran Rao and Ashutosh Gowariker.
While Ayan can be seen in yellow and grey outfit, Aamir Khan is sporting long hair, moustache and a black bandana. However, the lead actor Shah Rukh Khan is nowhere in the picture. Ayan began his career as an assistant director with Gowariker's 2004 film Swades.
Along with the picture, Ayan wrote, ''At the age of 19, I started my journey as an assistant director under Ashutosh Gowariker, my brother-in-law and first mentor. With Ashuda, I really understood the passion and sacrifice that each film takes, and how to devote oneself completely to the journey of the movie one is making... When Swades clocked 13 years in 2017, Ashutosh Gowariker took to Twitter to share some unseen stills. ''Thank you for your immense LOVE and REMEMBERING #13YearsOfSwades Here are a couple of really special UNRELEASED stills from the Mahurat Day! @aamir_khan @iamsrk #SunitaGowariker. Also, my experience of #1YearOfTwitter has been EXCEPTIONAL!!,'' he captioned the photos.
On a related note, Ayan is currently busy with his ambitious project Brahmastra, which is fantasy drama. The first part of the trilogy featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Ali Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan among others in important roles is set to release this Christmas. Produced by Karan Johar, the logo of Brahmastra was released recently with much pomp and show.
Meanwhile, Ashutosh is busy with period drama Panipat starring Sanjay Dutt, Kriti Sanon and Arjun Kapoor. On the other hand, Aamir Khan recently announced his next project. On 54th birthday, the superstar announced his next film, Lal Singh Chaddha, which is an official adaptation of Forrest Gump. The movie which is slated to release next year will be helmed by Secret Superstar director Advait Chandan. Aamir has started prepping-up for his character and will lose 20 kilos in six months. Lal Singh Chaddha will go on floors in October 2019. Aamir has bought the rights from Paramount and the project will be bankrolled by Viacom and Aamir Khan Productions. Rest of the cast is yet to be finalised.
