Mast Magan (2 States)
Based on Chetan Bhagat's novel by the same name, the film starring Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt was a great success. The romantic love story of a North Indian middle class guy and a Tamil Brahmin girl was brought alive by the music of Shankar-Ehsan-Loy. Mast Magan, sung by Arijit Singh and Chinmayi Sripada the song was arguably the best song of the album. Amitabh Bhattacharya wrote lyrics for the songs.

Patakha Guddi (Highway)
Music for Imtiaz Ali's Highway was composed by Academy Award winner maestro A.R. Rahman. After the success of ‘Rockstar,' lyricist Irshad Kamil collaborated with Ali and Rahman second time. All the songs were great but most people would choose Patakha Guddi as their favourite. Nooran sisters Jyoti and Sultana gave life to the beautiful melody by their off-beat voices.

Baarish (Yaariyan)
Comprising a comparatively unknown cast the film made big at the box office and its song contributed hugely in success. Five musicians came together to compose music for the film. The musical number created by Mithoon titled ‘Baarish' was probably the best one of the album. The words of Mithoon were voiced by Mohammed Irfan and Gajendra Verma.

Samjhawan (Humty Sharma Ki Dulhania)
Humpty Sharma Ki Duhania starred Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt in lead roles. The music for the film was provided by Sachin-Jigar and Sharib-Toshi, Jawad Ahmed. The musical number Samjhawan, composed by Sharib-Toshi and Jawad Ahmed was the most liked of the album. The lyrics written by Ahmed Anees and Kumaar were sung by Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal.

London Thumakda (Queen)
The film starring Kangna Ranaut was an underdog before the release but became a huge success after its release. Music played a huge role in its success. London Thumakda became one of the most popular songs of the year. Lyrics written by Anvita Dutt were composed by Amit Trivedi. The song was voiced by Labh Januja, Sonu Kakkar and Neha Kakkar.
