Mumbai: Who could better understand the pain of losing someone than Priyanka Chopra who lost her father Dr Ashok Chopra due to the cancer this June. ‘Daddy's lil girl' who joined the battle of against the disease launched Healthcare Global Enterprises Ltd's (HCG) first comprehensive cancer centre in Mumbai on Monday. Cancer and its many complications may have taken him away from us but it never broke his fighting spirit. He was a true inspiration and I have lent my support to this initiative not only to honour his memory but also to take his fight against this dreaded disease forward,” said the Krrish 3 actress in an interview.Clad in a beautiful blue Sari with a bindi, Priyanka remembered how her dad lived with cancer for eight years since 2005 and finally lost the battle earlier this year despite being taken care."Once my dad was detected, he lived for eight years since then and he lived a very good and healthy life," Priyanka recalled."He had a good quality of life because fortunately my mom was also a doctor and we knew about it (cancer care) in advance. We learnt about it, researched about it but everybody is not fortunate," she added.Priyanka has been very close to her father and unveiling a new cancer ward would be a perfect ode to him.
