Testified against producer Bharat Shah

Preity Zinta shook the entire Bollywood industry when she decided to turn witness and testify against the producer (Bharat Shah) of her movie 'Chori Chori Chupke Chupke'.

In 2003, Preity Zinta lift the lid over the secret involvement of Indian mafia within Bollywood. While all her co-stars turned hostile, Preity chose to stick to her statement and testifies against Bharat Shah over his connections with ‘Chota Shakeel', which resulted in his arrest.

She confirmed her statement of reciving extortion threats by the mafia during the filming of 'Chori Chori Chupke Chupke'.

Even Bollywood hot shots, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and many other retracted their statements but Preity Zinta stood by her statement. Following this she was given police protection and was kept out of the public eye for nearly two months.

Her heroic step earned her 'Godfrey's Mind of Steel Award at the annual Red and White Bravery Awards' for the courageous act of standing against the Mumbai Underworld.

Ever since then, Zinta has been the brand ambassador for the Godfrey Phillips Bravery awards.
