Seema Biswas – Bandit queen

The Assamese beauty Seema Biswas rose to fame after her prominent role in the biopic 'Bandit Queen'. The movie which was directed by Shekhar Kapur focused on the life of bandit Phoolan Devi.

Seema has been known for performing strong character roles. She also won the award for Best Actress in 1996 National Awards for the biopic.


Vidya Balan – Dirty Picture

Released in 2011, Dirty Picture had the stunning Vidya Balan in the lead role. Vidya played the role of an erotic South-Indian actress Silk Smitha.

While the movie revolved around the life of Silk Smitha, who was popularly known for her erotic roles, the directors clarified that the film was not based on Silk's life.

Directed by Milan Luthria, the film had Tusshar Kapoor, Emran Hashmi and Naseeruddin Shah in the lead roles with Vidya Balan and was a complete success both commercially and critically.
 

Suchitra Sen – Aandhi

Veteran actress Suchitra Sen along with Sanjeev Kumar did a biopic 'Aandhi' which was directed by Gulzar.

A political drama 'Aandhi' was alleged to be based on the life of former PM Indira Gandhi and her relationship with her estranged husband.

While Suchitra Sen played the role of Indira Gandhi in the movie, the film was not allowed its full release till Indira Gandhi was in power. The film was even banned during the 1975 emergency, just a few weeks after its release.
