New Delhi: Composer A R Rahman, who was at the focal point of a fatwa row this week, has thanked his friends, followers and fans for their love and support in his difficult days.
In a post on his Facebook account, Rahman greeted well wishers for speaking in support of him as well as took a dig at those who got ‘offended' by his music for an Iranian movie titled Muhammad: The Messenger of God.
Here is what he wrote:
“I'm back to 'Tamasha'...I meant the movie soundtrack I'm currently mixing.
Before that I want to thank my fellow artists, friends from the media and my fans for all their support, love, humour and trust over the past few days.
A comment that I read online made me smile...it said, "Oh! God, save me from your followers ..(all kinds)"
A Mumbai-based Sunni Muslim group Raza Academy had issued a fatwa against Rahman for his sound track in the Iranian movie.
The composer, however, dismissed the fatwa in a strongly worded Facebook post two days ago. He also made it a point to defend religious freedom and tolerance.
"What if I had the good fortune of meeting Allah and he asked me on the Judgement day, 'I gave you faith, talent, money, fame and health... why did you not do music for my beloved Muhammad (sals) film? A film whose conception was to unite humanity, clear misconceptions and spread my message."
