Mumbai: The 2002 hit-and-run case has been as much a fight for Alvira Agnihotri as it has been for her brother and accused Salman Khan. The superstar's sister has been his constant source of strength, especially in times of crisis, and proceedings in the 2002 hit-and-run case have been a true witness to it.

Alvira has been in attendance at every court hearing related to this case, even when Salman has not been present. Alvira has been seen being not just a pillar of strength for her brother, but has also taken the lead during proceedings, helping her brother every step of the way.

Earlier this year, Alvira was the one who rushed from the Sessions court to the High Court to file his bail application after Salman was pronounced guilty and was handed with an imprisonment of five years. Alvira has stood by her brother during all adverse circumstances and today was no different.

When Salman reached court for today's hearing, there was heavy presence of fans, lawyers and mediapersons inside the court room. Such was the commotion that police personnel present as part of the arrangements had to escort Salman inside the court through the front gate.

While the whole nation waited with a bated breath for the verdict, Salman, who went straight to the witness box upon entering the court room,  was nervously looking for his sister Alvira whom he appeared to have lost in the commotion. Alvira, who was standing at some distance from the witness box, simply gestured to Salman that she was there as anxiety loomed large on Salman's face.

When Justice A R Joshi arrived in the court room at 1.35 pm and delivered the verdict acquitting Salman Khan of all charges, Salman, who was patiently hearing the verdict with his eyes to the ground, heaved a huge sigh of relief and turned around to catch a glimpse of his sister Alvira once again. This time around, both smiled as they looked at each other.

As soon as Salman stepped out of the witness box, the first thing he did was to hug Alvira. Salman was clearly overwhelmed and was seen walking to a corner of the court room, wiping his tears with a handkerchief.

Both Salman and Alvira were soon covered from public glare by his guards. Salman soon got going with the procedure for the return of his bail and security bonds along with his lawyers. All this while, Alvira did not leave her brother's side for a second.

Alvira has made no qualms about her love brother Salman as well as the fact that she clearly believed in his innocence. In fact, it has been a sister's strong belief in her brother that has kept Alvira by Salman's side through thick and thin.

The equation between the brother and sister has been such that even the public prosecutor Pradeep Gharat, after finishing the arguments in the 2002 hit-and-run case in April this year, had walked up to Alvira and said, "Salman is really lucky to have a sister like you."

Fair point!!
